Terms of Service

Step Forward Education Pty Ltd
 Last updated: September 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your use of the Step Forward Education website, online learning platform, courses, training, resources and related services (“Services”). Step Forward Education Pty Ltd (“Step Forward Education”, “we”, “us” or “our”) provides online education and professional development through our website and third-party platforms, including Thinkific.

By creating an account, purchasing or enrolling in a course, accessing course materials or otherwise using our Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not purchase, enrol in or use our Services.

1. Eligibility and Accounts

You must provide accurate and current information when creating an account or making a purchase. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details and for activity conducted through your account.

Unless Step Forward Education expressly agrees otherwise, each individual enrolment and user account is for one learner only. You must not share your login details, account or course access with another person.

Our courses and Services are primarily intended for adults and professionals. If a person under 18 uses our Services, parent or legal guardian consent may be required where appropriate.

2. Course Enrolment and Access

When you purchase or enrol in a course, you receive a personal, limited and non-transferable right to access that course in accordance with these Terms.

Course access periods, inclusions, delivery methods and any completion requirements will be as described on the relevant course page or communicated to you at enrolment.

We may make reasonable updates to course content, resources, activities or platform features to maintain accuracy, quality, compliance or functionality. Where a material change affects an existing enrolment, we will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption.

3. Course Participation, Assessments and Certificates

Learners are responsible for completing required course content, activities, quizzes or assessments in accordance with the instructions provided.

A certificate of completion will only be issued where the applicable course completion requirements have been satisfied. We may withhold or revoke a certificate where there is evidence of account sharing, misrepresentation, academic dishonesty, circumvention of course requirements or other misuse of the Services.

Unless a course is expressly identified as nationally recognised or accredited training, a Step Forward Education certificate records completion of that course only. It does not represent a qualification, licence, registration or accreditation.

4. Educational Information and Professional Responsibility

Our courses and resources are provided for education and professional development. While we take reasonable care to provide accurate and current information, course content is general in nature and may not address every individual workplace, organisation, role or circumstance.

For courses dealing with child protection, mandatory reporting, safety, compliance or other legal or regulatory responsibilities, learners remain responsible for following the legislation, regulatory requirements, professional obligations and organisational policies that apply to their role and location.

Course content is not legal advice and should not be relied on as a substitute for professional advice where advice is required.

5. Prices and Payments

Course prices are displayed at the time of purchase and may change from time to time. A price change will not alter the price of a purchase already completed.

Payments for online courses are processed through the payment processing services available through our Thinkific course platform. Thinkific Payments is powered by Stripe. Step Forward Education Pty Ltd does not directly store your complete credit or debit card details.

You are responsible for providing accurate billing and payment information.

6. Refunds and Australian Consumer Law

Because our online courses and digital learning materials may be made available shortly after purchase, we do not generally provide refunds where you simply change your mind, decide not to complete the course, or no longer require the course.

This does not affect any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.

6.1 Consumer Guarantees

Our courses and services come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law where those guarantees apply.

If a course or service has a problem, is not provided with due care and skill, is not fit for a disclosed purpose, or otherwise fails to meet an applicable consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a remedy. The remedy available will depend on the circumstances and whether the failure is major or can be remedied.

6.2 Technical Access Issues

If you experience difficulty accessing a course you have purchased, please contact us so we can assist.

A temporary technical issue does not automatically entitle you to a refund where the issue can be resolved within a reasonable time. If we are unable to provide the purchased course or restore access within a reasonable period, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.

6.3 Duplicate or Incorrect Payments

If you believe you have been charged more than once for the same purchase, charged an incorrect amount, or a payment has been processed in error, please contact us as soon as possible. We will review the transaction and, where appropriate, arrange a correction or refund.

6.4 Course Access and Completion

Refunds will not generally be provided because a learner has not completed a course, has failed to meet course completion or assessment requirements, or has had access suspended or terminated because of a material breach of these Terms.

Nothing in this section limits any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

6.5 How to Request a Refund or Remedy

To request a refund or other remedy, please email [email protected] and include your name, the course or service purchased, the purchase date and a brief explanation of the issue.

We may request reasonable information needed to locate the transaction and assess your request. We will consider requests in accordance with these Terms and applicable Australian law.

6.6 Approved Refunds

Where a refund is approved, it will generally be returned using the original payment method where reasonably possible. Processing times may vary depending on the payment provider and financial institution.

7. Intellectual Property and Course Materials

Unless otherwise stated, all course content and materials provided by Step Forward Education, including videos, text, graphics, presentations, worksheets, downloads, assessments, quizzes, templates, resources, branding and other materials, are owned by or licensed to Step Forward Education Pty Ltd and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Your enrolment gives you permission to use course materials for your own personal learning and professional development only.

Without our prior written permission, you must not copy, reproduce, record, screenshot for redistribution, publish, upload, distribute, sell, licence, modify, create derivative training from, commercially exploit or otherwise make our course materials available to another person or organisation.

You must not use our course content or materials to create, deliver or substantially reproduce another training course, workshop, presentation or commercial resource.

8. Acceptable Use

You must not use our website, platform or Services for any unlawful, fraudulent, abusive or unauthorised purpose.

You must not attempt to interfere with the security or operation of the Services; introduce malicious code; access another person's account; scrape, copy or extract content using automated methods; circumvent course access or completion controls; or falsely represent that another person completed a course.

We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe these Terms have been materially breached, where there is misuse of the Services, or where suspension is reasonably necessary to protect our users, intellectual property, systems or business.

9. Third-Party Platforms and Links

Our Services may rely on third-party platforms and providers, including Thinkific and payment processing services. We are not responsible for third-party services that are outside our reasonable control, although we will take reasonable steps to assist where an issue affects access to a Service you have purchased from us.

Our courses or website may contain links to external websites or resources. External sites are governed by their own terms and privacy practices.

10. Availability and Technical Issues

We aim to keep our Services reasonably available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Temporary interruptions may occur because of maintenance, platform issues, internet outages or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

If a significant technical issue within our control prevents you from accessing a purchased course, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to restore access or provide an appropriate solution.

11. Privacy

Our collection, use and handling of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using our Services, you acknowledge that personal information may be processed through third-party service providers used to deliver our Services, as described in that policy.

12. Feedback and User Content

If you provide feedback, comments, survey responses or suggestions, you remain responsible for the content you provide. You must not submit content that infringes another person's rights, is unlawful, defamatory, abusive or contains malicious software.

We may use general feedback and suggestions to improve our courses and Services. We will not publicly identify you in testimonials or promotional material without appropriate permission.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Step Forward Education Pty Ltd is not liable for loss arising solely from a learner's failure to follow applicable laws, regulatory requirements, workplace policies or professional obligations, or from reliance on general course information as a substitute for advice specific to the learner's circumstances.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, consumer guarantees or remedies where doing so would be unlawful, including rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

14. Changes to Courses or Services

We may update, improve, replace or discontinue courses, features or Services from time to time. We will not use this right to remove a paid learner's substantive course access without providing a reasonable alternative, remedy or other response where required by law.

We may correct errors in course descriptions, pricing or other information. If an error materially affects a purchase you have already made, we will contact you where appropriate.

15. Termination

You may stop using our Services at any time. Ending your use of a Service does not automatically entitle you to a refund.

We may suspend or terminate your access for a material breach of these Terms. Where appropriate, we may give you an opportunity to remedy the breach before termination. Serious misuse, including unlawful activity, deliberate sharing or unauthorised distribution of course materials, fraud or attempts to compromise our systems, may result in immediate suspension or termination.

Any rights and obligations that by their nature should continue after termination, including intellectual property, payment obligations and applicable limitations of liability, will continue.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our Services, business practices or legal requirements. The current version will be published on our website or course platform with the date it was last updated.

Changes will apply from the date the updated Terms are published. Where a material change significantly affects an existing paid enrolment, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected learners where appropriate.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia. You and Step Forward Education Pty Ltd submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia and any courts entitled to hear appeals from them, subject to any rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

18. General

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not mean we waive our right to enforce it later.
